Danish Delegation of City Managers visits the EAST SIDE MALL
30.03. - 02.04.2025
From March 30 to April 2, a delegation of 25 city managers from all over Denmark visited Berlin. The purpose of the study trip was to exchange professional ideas on innovative approaches to city management and to gather impulses and best practice examples for their own work in Danish cities. On April 1, they visited various companies in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district.
District Mayor Clara Herrmann welcomed the guests at the EAST SIDE MALL and discussed current urban development issues with them. The focus of the visit was on cross-border knowledge transfer and joint learning from successful urban development models.
The delegation's stops included the Anschutz Entertainment Group Development GmbH with the Uber Platz, the environmental and educational site Nirgendwo, and various businesses in the EAST SIDE MALL. There, the participants gained insights into the work of the Mephisto Hasso von Hugo GmbH makeup artist school, the KONKON Asia Market, and Sandbox VR. The direct exchange with the owners and managers focused on entrepreneurial success factors, challenges, and solutions in urban space.
A special highlight at the end was trying out the latest virtual reality technology at Sandbox VR - an immersive experience that excited the participants.
The delegation was part of the "Danske Handelsbyer" network, which unites 62 cities and municipalities in Denmark. The network is particularly committed to strengthening inner-city retail and sustainable urban development strategies.
